Mountain View Friends Meeting welcomes and appreciates the children in our community. The joy of interacting with our youngest Friends brings inspiration and hope for all.
Due to ever-changing circumstances occasioned by the pandemic and adjustments since then, the Meeting attempts to meet the needs of children who come.
As of May 2026, our children range in age from infants through second grade. We provide a safe learning environment with free play, books, songs, puzzles, simple crafts, and opportunities with nature in a single classroom environment. Our dream is to return to a multi-age group series of classes. We will build that together as new families and children arrive in our community and we seek the gifts of new teachers who might help us engage with the age-appropriate experiences that we have offered in the past.
After Labor Day weekend and throughout the school year, children meet upstairs for the first 45 minutes of worship, then join the adults downstairs for the last few minutes of worship.
At least two adults work with each children’s group each Sunday, one as the teacher and the other as backup and helper. The volunteer teachers strive to provide thought-provoking lessons. Background checks are conducted for each teacher who works with the children.
In the summer, adults walk with the children from the meetinghouse each Sunday to Observatory Park for free play. Lessons also may be given in Observatory Park at other times when the weather is fair.
